Cotton Mill Live: Lizzy Ross - "Summer Skin" (Video)

A few weeks ago, I lent a hand (and camera) to my friends over at Cotton Mill Live again for one of their live music video shoots (this being the second time I've worked with them). Here is an edit from the night featuring Nashville newcomer via North Carolina, Lizzy Ross, performing her song "Summer Skin". This one of 9 songs that we filmed that evening. She put on an excellent performance and it was great meeting her and having the opportunity to help film such a talented artist.

About Cotton Mill Live:

Cotton Mill Live has very simple and few goals; gather friends and support a budding talent. With the amount of artistry Nashville has to offer, Cotton Mill Live allows friends, family and the public to catch a glimpse of just how special Nashville can be. With one band chosen every month, the business owners dress the band, film the show one song at a time, interview the members afterward and then release the edited footage to the general public via Facebook, website and most importantly our own YouTube channel
The monthly event is held at Cotton Mill Studio,  a creative living space for Hello Boy’s men’s clothing store owners, Gavin O’Neill and Jeremy Ryan Hatfield. It is locate in East Nashville

Nashville Paw Barktoberfest 2013 Photo Booth (Photos)

I recently had the pleasure of running a photo booth for Nashville Paw's 2013 Barktoberfest event at Animalia in Franklin, TN.

This was my first go at doing a pet photo booth and it was an absolute blast! Although I would have to say that it was quite a challenge getting some of the pups to look at the camera, I luckily had the help of some excellent assistants who would get the dogs' attention via treats, squeaky toys and a very effective bicycle horn.

It was really a great event; met a lot of awesome people and made plenty of new furry friends while capturing some excellent photos throughout the day! Some of the dog/owner's costumes I witnessed during my time there were absolutely amazing. Hope to see everyone out again at the 2014 Barktoberfest!

Tim + Leah Tranberg | Wedding Reception Photo Booth (Photos)

I was recently hired to work a photo booth for Tim and Leah's Wedding Reception at the Vanderbilt Legends Club out in Franklin, TN; it was a great time!!

I had originally met Leah and Tim while running a photo booth at the Nashville Paw Foundation's "Art for Animals" benefit this past February. She got in touch with me in regards to booking a photo booth for their wedding reception. We confirmed the date and the big day quickly arrived!

It was a beautiful reception at a very nice venue and the photo booth definitely added another fun element to the festivities. The guests loved it and we got some really awesome shots!

If you are interested in booking a Photo Booth for your special event, please feel free to shoot me an email to discuss details and rates!

Wick-it the Instigator | Forecastle 2013 Late Night Party Recap (Video)

A little over a month ago, I attended the 2013 Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville, KY to shoot some photos for Break On A Cloud.

On the first night of the festival, we caught up with Wick-it the Instigator and crew to document his late night set aboard the Belle of Louisville riverboat on the Ohio River. Eliot Lipp opened up the party with a killer set paving the way for Wick-it to get on stage and crush it for a crazy-hyped crowd! Needless to say, the shit was insane...and luckily we never even had to "abandon ship". Check the video recap for a little taste of the mayhem!

They will occur each week immediately following the Live On the Green concert series from here on out (8/22 - 9/12). THE BOOM BAP Feat. SKEME RICHARDS | 06.22.2013 (Video)

Last month, I was asked by the fine folks over at The Boom Bap to come out and shoot a recap video for the event...I gladly obliged.

For those of you not in the know...The Boom Bap is a Hip-Hop dance party held at The 5 Spot in East Nashville the fourth Saturday of every month. I have been attending these events for quite some time now and can honestly say it is the most hype party in town celebrating Hip-Hop music/culture and showcasing skillful turntablism. The resident DJs (DJ Rate, Case Bloom and Bowls) spin a wide variety of mostly pre-2000 classic hip-hop records that always whip the crowd in a frenzy. Furthermore, they frequently bring in guest DJs from out of town to rip up the decks as well. For this edition, we got to witness Skeme Richards bring the heat, he straight killed it...such an epic night as always!! I'd say it is pretty much impossible to walk into any Boom Bap party and NOT have a great time...these guys always come correct!

I thank them for the opportunity to document this killer party and hope to do it again sometime soon!

Original Bike Box Promo (Video)

I recently finished producing a promo video for my friends over at the Original Bike Box for use on their new website. Being that I love shooting video and am also a huge fan of riding bikes and anything bicycle related, I knew that this project was right in my "wheelhouse", so to speak. Needless to say, I had a great time putting this video together and working with the Bike Box team to promote a great handmade, local Nashville product.

WHAT IS THE ORIGINAL BIKE BOX YOU ASK??
"A stylish way to carry your gear, the Original Bike Box is handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee from reclaimed wood and then hand painted to suit your individual taste. Our boxes come in two sizes, perfect for both adult and kids' bikes and easily attaches with the provided hardware. Sturdier than most bike baskets, your custom box can carry your treasures in style!"
Check out their site and pick up a custom bike box of your own! Summer is in full swing, get out and ride in style: website | facebook

Also, big shout-out to local Nashville electronic musician Quiet Entertainer for making his track available for use in the video. Check him out: website | facebook

Patrick Worley - All Saints Chapel Performances (Video)

Over the past year, I had the pleasure of producing/directing a series of videos for extremely talented classical guitarist, Patrick Worley. Now that all the videos have been released, I wanted to get them all up in a blog post for everyone to check out!

For this project, we used the breathtaking backdrop of the All Saints Chapel on the campus of University of the South in beautiful Sewanee, TN. With a visually stunning location secured, we set to work filming Patrick's performance of 5 classic pieces that he had hand-picked for his forthcoming CD/DVD combo release. The selected works, composed by the likes of Niccolo Paganini, G.F. Handel and Augustin Barrios Mangore, span a wide range of emotions and technique which Patrick masterfully embodies and portrays in his performances.

It was really a breath of fresh air having the opportunity to work with this type of raw talent and professionalism...a nice escape from the often overproduced and flashy world of modern popular music that I find myself covering on a regular basis; not to say there is anything wrong with that at all, but to step back and witness/document true musical virtuosity in it's purest form, especially in such an amazing venue, is an experience I will not soon forget!

Check out all the vids below and be sure to visit Patrick on his website and facebook.
Huge thanks to Matt Miller for his camera and lighting assistance on this shoot and to Marshall Weidner for beautifully capturing audio.

KEEP ON MOVIN! - Atlanta - 1 Year Anniversary Party Recap | 05.25.2013 (Video)

Last month, I had the pleasure of taking a road trip the the great city of Atlanta to film the KEEP ON MOVIN! 1 Year Anniversary Party at The Basement.

For those of you not in the know; KEEP ON MOVIN! is a weekly dance party presented by Electric Western Records that occurs every Monday at the 5 Spot in East Nashville and also the last Saturday of every month at The Basement in Atlanta, hosted by DJs Jacob Jones and Reno Bo. This one in particular marking the one year anniversary of the Atlanta edition of this event.

These guys really know how to throw down a killer party, they truly have it down to a science and know exactly what musical goodness to serve up at any given time to whip the people into a frenzy. The crowd was great and danced their asses off into the early morning hours to a wide array of excellent funk and soul standards. I would definitely say that this event was a huge success, but don't just take my word for it, check out the recap below and see for yourself, good times!!

Remembering the May 2010 Nashville Flood (Photos)

As many of you know, the first week of May marked the 3 year anniversary of the 2010 Nashville Flood that raged through our fine city and caused extensive damage to downtown as well as many outlying areas.

I had posted some photos from the aftermath of the storm in the downtown area on my facebook page last week, but wanted to throw them up on the site as well.

3 years later, these images are still a surreal testament to the severity of this disaster, but also an inspirational reminder of a city that came together to fight through the destruction.

I tried to avoid taking photos of people's personal destruction throughout the neighborhoods that were badly damaged and instead put the camera down to help with the cleanup effort. There are plenty of powerful images around the web though from the cleanup effort that can give you an idea of how bad the individual damages really were.

Hustle III Recap | 03.08.2013 (Video)

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past 6 months, then you've probably caught wind of the HUSTLE parties that have been goin down every couple months at Cannery Ballroom.

Nashville's most dedicated DJs came together once again to bring us third installment of the HUSTLE event; not much I can say about it, just watch the vid and see the craziness for yourself! One of my favorite additions to the production this time around was the stripper pole and light boxes for the dancers! I stand by my previous assertions that this is probably the one of the best parties in Nashville, this crew always goes above and beyond to ensure a kick ass evening for all in attendance!
