Check out the above recap vid from THE BOOM BAP last month!! The crew once again proved that they throw down the best Hip-Hop party in Nashville...Cosmo Baker was in the house and added a great energy to the night, killer set!
Don't sleep on the July installment featuring House Shoes this Weekend (7/26) at The 5 Spot!
Last month, I was asked by the fine folks over at The Boom Bap to come out and shoot a recap video for the event...I gladly obliged.
For those of you not in the know...The Boom Bap is a Hip-Hop dance party held at The 5 Spot in East Nashville the fourth Saturday of every month. I have been attending these events for quite some time now and can honestly say it is the most hype party in town celebrating Hip-Hop music/culture and showcasing skillful turntablism. The resident DJs (DJ Rate, Case Bloom and Bowls) spin a wide variety of mostly pre-2000 classic hip-hop records that always whip the crowd in a frenzy. Furthermore, they frequently bring in guest DJs from out of town to rip up the decks as well. For this edition, we got to witness Skeme Richards bring the heat, he straight killed it...such an epic night as always!! I'd say it is pretty much impossible to walk into any Boom Bap party and NOT have a great time...these guys always come correct!
I thank them for the opportunity to document this killer party and hope to do it again sometime soon!
On December 7, 2012, the minds behind Electric Western, The Boom Bap, Y2K, Whiskey Disco, Recognize, and KEEP ON MOVIN! once again pulled off the biggest dance party in Nashville, but this time even BIGGER!! Teaming up with Do615 (a new website showcasing events around the Ville) for their official launch party, the crew rocked the Cannery Ballroom crowd late into the night!
I have to say, after filming the first HUSTLE party back in October, it was obvious that they stepped their game up on this one...lighting and sound production (provided by LMG) were on point and the crowd was even more amazing! Big ups to everyone involved in this incredible event and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to film it again!
Hello::
Wanted to make a post to recap a few recent events that I thoroughly enjoyed...been crazy round here lately, but things are going well! Lots of cool stuff has been documented over the past couple months and there is so much yet to come! pretty stoked for all the fall/winter events that are in store..
Laser Flames on the Great Big News @ The End | 10.01.2011
Ok, so this was on October 1st, but who's countin', haha...My good friends in Laser Flames have recently gotten back at it after a bit of a hiatus; and thankfully so, cuz they truly do kill it!!! I was lucky enough to be in the building with the camera that night to capture some pics for this epic set of rawk! This was part of the release party for Super Bowl Rocket Ship's new 7" (who also feats. the vocal stylings of Stevie Bailey) ...unfortunately, I had to leave before their set, but def check them out as well.
Had the opportunity to film at the Bassnectar show in Louisville a couple weeks ago, snapped a few pics in the process...stay tuned for the video recap coming soon exclusively at www.breakonacloud.com
Fistikuffs "Quest for Crunk" Premiere Show @ The 5 Spot
I met one of the "Kuffs" members (CashVillin) while he was bar tending at a wedding I was filming a while back. We got to talkin; he informed me of this satirical gangster rap group he was in called Fistikuffs and recommended I come check out the release of their "Quest For Crunk" mockumentary...and boy am I glad I attended with camera in hand!! The Fistikuffs followed up the debut their film with a skull crushing live performance featuring the Thrift Store Mafia! It was off the chain! www.facebook.com/fistikuffs
so I've pretty much decided that I suck at blogging...my last post being in January...but trust me when I say that there definitely has not been a lack of blog-worthy material in the past months. In fact, there has been a ton of crazy and awesome stuff going on lately in my world that has been keeping me super busy...those that follow me on facebook or twitter are probably well aware of some of the madness, so in that case, you are more than welcome to disregard this..haha..I will be making a concerted effort to keep up on blogging now that this will serve as my primary website
so anyways, I was planning on re-doing my whole site in Wordpress and I pretty much abandoned/neglected this blogspot account thinking that I could get a site up pretty quickly..(any relevant info gets posted on facebook anyway, right??) well, as it goes, I have been busy as hell since the new year and just never really got around to it updating:), but I digress, I'm basically gonna try to make up for the past 7 months in a single post, call it even and just go from there! haha, it's gonna be that easy...there's far to much to post, but this is a little summary at the least:)
First off, here is a photographic slideshow journey of most of the year (2011) so far, pulled from my Flickr photos...and I have a ton more pics that I have yet to post, take a look!:
I feel that one of my most notable endeavours this year has been establishing an involvement with the crew over at Break on a Cloud...for those of you that don't know, BOAC is one of Nashville's newest and freshest music blogs, run by my homie, Rob Bragdon, and crewed up by Matt Miller, Kelly Hite, Alan Wieme and Larry Arace, who are all super talented photographers and videographers. Together, we have been covering some of the dopest music events throughout Nashville since January, providing video and photography support and subsequent recaps and writeups on the Blog. This has provided some great opportunities to film such hip hop legends such as Raekwon, Talib Kweli, Questlove, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Nappy Roots...as well as some hot up and coming Nashville acts as Dee Goodz, Chancellor Warhol, Gab, DJ Wick-It, Classic Williams and Call it Dope!
Follow the Cloud ASAP for a daily dose of dope music!! Please show some love by hittin up Break on a Cloud on Facebook and Twitter!!
Here are some video samples of what we have been up to...and there is plenty more badass content in the works, so stay tuned:
Stay tuned for more content, project updates and general news and happenings...I promise I'll be more on the ball with the blog this time around!
